Ask Your Spouse
How Do I Make You Feel LOVED?
Day  272

How do I make you feel loved?
I casually asked Baby Daddy this simple question about 6 months ago. We weren't having problems or anything but I was still a little surprised with his candid, simple answers. The prompting to inquire came from a book I happened to be reading on a road trip to the beach.

Ask your spouse it said; What do I do to make you feel loved?

At first I skimmed over that section of that chapter thinking it was kinda goofy and somewhat pointless. I mean, we have been married long enough to know each other inside and out, we even finish each others sentences in the cutest of ways. OK, not really. Truth is I consistently take over all stories and he could care less about hearing his voice so it seems to work out. Anyway, what could he say that I don't already know?

I won't bore you with details but let me just say I feel a bit dumb to admit I have never asked this of Baby Daddy before. Never asked. I can't be the only one out there right? I mean it was a suggestion in a long time standing, best selling book, someone else needed to see that too. Too late for Wife of the Year so I can only try and help others at this point. So ask, I tell you.

Never assume anything, especially about what your spouse is thinking. You know what happens then. Dog house, cold dinners and unanswered texts. Maybe not, just don't ass u me as a generally rule. Communication is key so start inquiring, opening up and telling it from the heart in a loving way.

I wasn't completely caught off guard by his answers. Interesting though, somewhere in between the, you make me feel loved when you pray for me and when you remember to shut the kitchen cabinets was the double layer icing good stuff. Not X rated juicy stuff but the real life, everyday, this is how much I love you juicy stuff.

A half a year later we are still living out a few of those answers.
Don't wait, ask now. Best question I have ever asked him. Ranks higher and even more important than.....Does this make my butt look big?

Dog People
Y'all are a Special Breed

Thank you to the two nice dog ladies at the park who invested in my children with nothing at all to gain. Y'all are a special breed. Even though Drexel and Delilah did save your throwing arm from a bit of necessary ibuprofen toward bedtime tonight,  I'm pretty sure that wasn't your motive. Giving up the ball and Frisbee throwing duty in addition to mini dog lessons through out was much appreciated to this momma. Your dogs were a treat. They were behaved, friendly, didn't poop in the playground, polite to new people and hardly drooled at all. The exact team huddle prep and reminders I give my kids as we head out to the park on a pleasant, sunny afternoon. 1 2 3 break, go team.
Some days are better than others.

If you know La-La you can realize what a big deal playing with this "Marley" was. She has come a long way baby.

Thanks mom for saving this journal from Kindergarten.
 It explains a lot.
Good or bad I haven't changed much.
I remain pretty simple.
Don't double check that fact with Baby Daddy though.
He thinks the high maintenance ones never admit it.

I want to be loved.
I want to be outside.
I may even cry about it.
I want to be far away from big dogs I don't know.
The End

Who PUNK'D My Photo Album?
Day 268

There were several more jacked up google eyed pieces of artwork discovered but I figured the point would surely be made with showing only these. No one is fessin' up, not even the hint of a guilty giggle even though I thought it was totally hilarious. Perhaps they were afraid. No worries, no need to hide, I am a long time fan of google eyes and always will be. Maybe it was someone outside the family, who knows. The extra family-like kids we often have hanging around the house, you know who you are. I will find you....eventually. When I do, mark my words, I will give you a big ole pat on the back for your creativity. Thanks for making me laugh during the move. I needed that.

Only 54 Days and 9 Hours Til Spring
Day 267

No heat in the cheesy, gold mini van as we drop Delaney off in plenty time for the morning school bell of her Middle School. Brrrrrr. When is Spring again? I can't wait to see the beautiful colors of blooming flowers and feel the warm breeze across my soccer mom face. My handy dandy phone lights up and declares in a not so nice, screamy voice, 12 degrees. I swipe my finger to the right and check out the rest of the country, stopping on the screens where the older kids live for a quick prayer. Back to Charlotte, 12 degrees, it's really 12 degrees, I mutter to myself while pouring a strong cup of coffee. I shuffle back to my closest for another layer, it's definitely a two pajama pant day as we prepare to hit the stop and go of the sometimes clogged up car line. 12 degrees, yikes, that's colder than where we stayed in Northern Minnesota last year, which is located just one hour away from the Canadian border. What's up with that? I text a friend from there but I don't think she feels sorry for me at all, as 12 degrees would be considered a heat wave for them.

Hey, dontcha know we have been buried in snow here since September and won't see green grass until May.
Quit your whining.

She didn't respond in those words but may actually have been thinking it. Bless her heart.

So when the kids and I return home from the cold ride we count our blessings out loud and also the many weeks until spring. A sorta pre-home school mini lesson. The warm cozy air fogs my camera lens as we prepare hot chocolate to drink from our favorite mugs. Life is Good but God is better.
Thank you Lord for always providing.
Sturdy shelter, healthy food and clean clothes.
