Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

How about when you go to visit someone and they have prepared a room for you. With loving hands your hostess has everything ready for your stay ahead of time. Fresh sheets, your favorite creamer for morning coffee, a hand written note to welcome you placed perfectly atop an extra comforter and nicely folded towels. 

How wonderful. How nice. How warm and cozy this makes your traveling heart feel. Your friends or family are expecting you, looking forward to your visit, they show it by preparing a comfortable place for you. They love you.

 God loves you and also has a room for you. These passages from the Book of John blew me away this morning. I have seen them before, read them many times actually, have even sung kid songs about God's many rooms and how to get there. Today was different, the words printed in red leaped off my Bible and jumped straight into my softened heart. 

Don't let your hearts be troubled! Jesus has your plastic room key. He will be back to give it to you and check you in. Follow Him, He knows how to get there.
