365 Random Days of Team Zybko
Day #250
November 3rd, 2012
A Few Hours In Canada

Early in our adventures here in Minnesota we all agreed the places Team Zybko wanted to visit. Canada was a headliner, so one Saturday, way back in August with the van packed and passports clutched tightly in hand we headed out to visit a new country. Although the GPS clearly told us the correct roads to take, we never did make it. Inadvertently, yet happily sidetracked by advertisements of an International Lumberjack Competition in Wisconsin. We quickly changed plans and direction not long after our wheels hit the pavement. Lured in by the thoughts of delicious, fresh funnel cakes, log rolling and manly men in flannel shirts throwing axes. Trust me, it was too hard to resist the switch. That day was well spent and tons of fun. Wound up being one of our favorites, no regrets at all of not reaching the border. Well, that was a few months ago, at that point our Minnesota wish list of events and day trips had very few lines through it. For the most part, time has flown by. The homemade, construction paper, countdown chain above my head indicates a mere 23 days until departure. Leaving a beautiful land and wonderful, fun filled season behind us. Being so close to Canada to end up not going wasn't going to work for this list girl.
We try it again.
Canada or Bust
Unfortunately, the cold weather and late date on the calendar dictated our itinerary. Missing our hole shot for outdoor activities left us American visitors with not a whole lot to do. I snicker to myself as the US border comes back into sight a few hundred feet ahead. Pretty sure I spent more time filling out paperwork, picture taking and waiting in line at the Post Office for the kids passports then we spent in Canada.

Lunch at Mongos Grille
Playing on old cannons
Scaring a gazillion seagulls
Neat buildings with history
Cool reflective sculpture
Beautiful sunset
Baby Daddy's extra 15 minutes of interrogation at border
Scary lonely thoughts of becoming a single mother

Ask me which day was better. Hhhmmmm.
Our few hours in Canada verses watching crazy lumberjack dudes shimmy up a 100 foot mid western pine tree in 8 seconds?
Hard to compare.
Apples and oranges really.
I choose BOTH days of memories....
as long as they come with a side of fresh
Wisconsin cheese curds and Canadian maple syrup.
