No Write-Just Right School Day
Day 185
November 6, 2013
Team Zybko
Put your #2 pencils down, time is UP! Yep, you heard me, no pencils today for any subject. The test is not over though, the learning has actually just begun. Today was a no write-just right learning day for my 6 and 8 year old. Once in a while ya gotta switch it up, in all areas of your life this is a good idea. These days are some of my favorites, filled with non conventional study methods. Phonic flash card review, multiplication madness, riveting chapters of our current re-aloud, oral vocabulary, capital shout out tests, architectural building contests and cranium think tanks creating never before thought of science hypotheses. Oh yea, that's what we do on days at the end of a quarter here at Team Zybko Academy.
What did you say? Huh? You aren't from the home school po po? Ok, then....perfect. Let me try it again. What we do during these hours of school is wing it.
*Stand by the USA wall map and discover America
*Pull out a stash of straws and toothpicks to create....anything
*Stay in PJ's, jump in bed and read 52 Library books
*Bake a cake from scratch, giving up ALL control except for the hot parts
*Scientifically predict many many Match Box car races
*Grouping chocolate chips together to from edible math problems
*Wipey board art
*Apartment obstacle courses
*Start a new chapter book, going slow for new vocabulary and made up questions
No lead days are special. They only roll around so often. Which makes them extra nice and refreshing. I wish we could do them more often but of course that wouldn't do much for their necessary writing skills. So until next no write-just right day continue to wing it and enjoy the learning.
