Legal Graffiti
Day 350
April 30, 2014
Team Zybko
What's up with the painted rocks outside the schools in the Charlotte area? Who knows. Been here almost a year and I have yet to find out the tradition behind it. I do know the hundreds and hundreds of multi colored paint layers could tell quite a long, interesting story for sure. The right to paint is yours, just respect the rock and others, put a date on it after completion so the next artist knows not to cover up....overnight.
Celebrate birthdays, announce big school events or show your excitement about note worthy occasions in your students life. Cool idea. It is fun driving through car line every morning to see the surface of the boulder change a couple times a week, sometimes more often than that. I will say, all graffiti, legal graffiti that is, is not created equal. Last week was our turn to show Delaney what we thought of her up-coming play performance. Like they say, when in Rome, take the opportunity to pain the rock. The smelly cheap protective gloves and childlike thrill of the secret job wore off before the first coat was even close to drying. Taking more spray cans, broken nails, destroyed brain cells and minutes than I was ready for. Sorry Mr. Ozone, my bad.
