Christmas Town USA
McADENVILLE, NC
Day 229
December 20, 2013
Team Zybko

This small North Carolina town of only about 700 residents puts on quit a show every year for anyone interested. Lights, lights and more lights on most houses, bushes, trees and lamp posts. 360 degrees of happy, December brightness. Stay in your car, hang out the sunroof of your car or get out of your car and walk the streets by foot. You choose, all of these options are free. It's a great way to get in the holiday spirit and spread a little cheer, greeting others with a smile and a simple Merry Christmas.

Drexel and I got separated from the others after jumping out of the van for a recon mission to snap the perfect picture. A joyful accident it was. We ended up with some special mother/son time as we walked through the unknown town in search of the familiar cheesy, gold minivan. The rest of the family had to have been thinking we were the two worst people to get lost. No big secret, we are both slightly ADD, we enjoy getting sucked into a moment and bright shinny things catch our eye just a bit. He later told me his favorite part was wandering around with me. I agreed with him and set up a date for next year, don't tell the others our plan.

If you live around the Charlotte area or happen to be visiting relatives, I strongly suggest you go. Grab a scarf, a cup of hot chocolate and tune up your singing voice. Caroling is not mandatory but not uncommon around these parts either.
Merry Christmas!
