Wimpy Southerners

Southerners and Cold Weather
Day 102-Year 3

Bless our hearts. Us Southerners, for the most part DO NOt thrive in any temperature below, say 55 degrees. The cold just ain't for everyone, and that includes me and my crew. My northern friends tend to snicker out loud in front of my chapped lipped face. I'm pretty sure they are internally rolling their eyes at my extra thin blood and super thick whining.

Being prepared, bracing yourself and staying mentally strong about the winter season is key. So far I am zero for zero. More like below zero. Afternoon fruit snacks left in the van that freeze overnight, socks for mittens and wearing a scarf inside my house simply isn't right. I cry Uncle, is it spring time yet?

These Girls are TOUGH!

Since a weekend worth of pictures usually yields a couple hundred shots added to my laptop, it takes a while to go through them all. I'm certainly not complaining, I love it.
This past weekends camera roll left me giggling more than usual while editing. This is a great group of players and parents. With soccer season back in full swing, meeting up with these people is almost an every weekend deal for multiple hours. It is always a pleasure to share the sidelines with them, even in the nasty weather on Saturday.

A few things were brought to my attention while re-scrolling, see if you can catch a few.

*Soccer is much more physical than it appears with the naked eye.
*38 Degrees and windy is NOT ideal for ANY outdoor sport.
*Our girls are tough.
*Our girls are zany.
*Our girls like to celebrate after goals.
*Our girls sometimes wish we would stay on our side of the field.
*Bright red lipstick brings out the fun.
*Some players like to pull the other teams shirts.
*Some are scrappy and then wonder why they get called for the same thing.
*Some girls never have their cleats tied.
*Our girls have serious game faces.
*Long pony tails get in a photographers way.
*Siblings on the team are very supportive.
*Our Grandparent fans ROCK!
*Sometimes soccer looks like dancing.
*Offsides when called incorrectly really stinks.
*Our girls never give up.
*The girls are in shape.
*Soccer is an awesome sport.
