Bicycle World of Florence
does not mess around when it comes to bikes.
I mean, anything about bikes.
New bikes
Used bikes
Repairing bikes
Donating bikes.
Whatever bikes.

About 9 months ago Bicycle World
and a handful of other volunteers
gave of their time, talent and treasure to help others.

The Parking Lot Mission is about real people.
The Parking Lot Mission is a really quite amazing.
The Parking Lot Mission teaches me about GOD every week.

We collected twenty something bikes to give away.
Some for big guys.
Some for little guys.
Some lady sizes and children too.

The kids faces lit up as they rang
their newly installed handle bar bell.
Like Christmas morning two months early.

Lil David is a pro with wrench and great at fixing most anything. Getting up early on a Saturday morning? Not so great. Which explains the Basketball shorts over the feel good pajama bottom pant look.

Surprised and grateful recipients.

Baby Daddy is a bike junkie. Parts, brands, tire size and proper fitting, he could figure it out with his eyes closed.
Me?  Not so much a bike expert. We all have different gifts.
I leave Baby Daddy to his while I make my rounds and smile a lot.
Just for the record I can pedal down the street with no hands.

In efforts to keep the repair part of this day organized and successful, orders were taken weeks in advance. A laundry list of parts and special tools were planned and arranged for. Despite the wind and rain Bicycle World and the helpers came out with smiles on their faces. Working for what seemed like hours.
Cold noses and finger tips but warm, warm hearts.

Not many cars are driven to the Parking Lot Mission every week. By foot or bike is how the majority arrive.
Some riding up to 15 miles one way, coming as far as Darlington.
Having a broken bike can be devastating.
Getting around town, arriving on time to a job site
and even eating become that much harder.
Something as simple as replacing a blown inner tube is huge.
Fixing a broken chain can make all the difference in the world.
Small equals big in these uncertain economic times.

We would love for this event to become a standard thing.
Twice a year would be ideal and most helpful.
The next Parking Lot Mission Bike Repair and Giveaway
is this Saturday.

If you would like to help, let me know.
If you would to check out the PLM,  I can give you directions.
If you would like to donate for the costs of parts,
stop by Bicycle World with whatever amount works with you.
And do me a favor, while you are there, tell em' GOD bless.
Or good job.
Or thank you.
Or even just a smile will do.

This cool bike shop is located on Palmetto Street.
I don't know the exact address but I do know it's a couple buildings down from Sonic, same side of the street.
